Everything you need to know about Plen.
Plen is a Gantt chart planner, time tracker and budgeting app that runs in your browser at app.plen.work, with a Plen subscription. It helps you visually plan projects on a timeline, track how long tasks actually take, and share plannings online as live links. A legacy desktop version remains available for free, though it's no longer in active development.
Plen for the browser is in open beta: it isn't fully finished yet. We're still gathering feedback, smoothing out the experience, and fixing bugs as we go. In practice, that means you might run into the occasional bug while using Plen.

Plen is one subscription: 6 euro per month or 60 euro per year, tax included. That one subscription covers everything: unlimited projects, time tracking, budgeting, exports, and live share links.
The legacy desktop app (v0.45.5) is free and keeps working, but it's no longer in active development.
The Plen subscription gives you the full planner in your browser at app.plen.work, plus the online sharing features: export your planning as an interactive HTML page, publish it at a private URL that updates every time you export, protect it with a password or expiry date, and put your own logo on it. It costs 6 euro per month or 60 euro per year, tax included. See the subscription page for the details.
Your share links stay online for 14 days after your subscription ends, so nothing breaks unexpectedly. After that they're taken offline and visitors see a "no longer shared" page.
If you resubscribe within 90 days, the exact same URLs come back online automatically. After 90 days the shared pages are permanently deleted. Your plannings themselves stay accessible: in the browser you can still open, download, and delete them after cancelling (only creating and saving new work needs an active subscription), and local desktop files are never touched by any of this.
In the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany. That covers the plannings you make in your browser and the pages you publish as share links.
Only what you publish is ever public. Plannings you make in the browser are stored privately so you can open them from any computer; they're not visible to anyone else unless you publish a share link. Desktop plannings never leave your computer unless you publish one. You can revoke share links at any time in Plen itself, and the website dashboard keeps a "delete all my online data" button that removes everything at once.
In the browser: no. Plen at app.plen.work needs an internet connection.
The legacy desktop app: yes. It runs entirely on your computer and works completely offline, forever.
No. Plen runs in your browser at app.plen.work: nothing to install, nothing to update. A legacy desktop app exists for those who prefer it, free on the download page.
Get a Plen subscription, then go to app.plen.work and sign in with your email: we send you a 6-digit code, you type it in, and you're planning. Your plannings are there on any computer you sign in on.
For Plen in the browser, yes, but there's no password: you sign in with just your email and a 6-digit code we send you. The legacy desktop app needs no account at all.
Yes. Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record, issues an invoice for every payment. Businesses can enter a VAT ID at checkout for an EU reverse-charge invoice.
Any system with a modern browser: Plen runs at app.plen.work. The legacy desktop app supports Windows 10+ and macOS 12+.
Yes, Plen is safe. We're a new, independent developer, so Windows doesn't recognise us yet and shows a warning for the installer. It's the standard message Windows shows for any app from a developer it doesn't know yet, not a sign that anything is wrong with Plen.
To install: if you see a blue "Windows protected your PC" box, click More info and then Run anyway. If you see the "Open File - Security Warning" box, just click Run.

In the browser your plannings follow your sign-in: open app.plen.work on any computer and they're there. The legacy desktop app has no built-in sync; it works well with cloud storage like Dropbox or OneDrive if you want your .plen files on multiple devices.
Yes. Sign in at app.plen.work on any computer and your plannings and share links are the same everywhere. The legacy desktop app also runs on as many machines as you like.

Yes. Export your Gantt chart as a PDF, image, Excel file or calendar file (ICS) and share it however you like, or publish a live share link that always shows your latest version. The recipient never needs Plen or an account.
Tools like Tom's Planner, TeamGantt and GanttPRO also run in the browser, and typically charge per person per month (Tom's Planner starts at around $9.95 per month). Plen is one flat subscription of 6 euro per month, tax included, with time tracking and budgeting built in, and live share links your clients can open without an account. There's also a free legacy desktop app that works offline.
